Party at the End of Humanity. Not.

Extinction 2030 is an imagined global music festival celebrating humanity's resilience in the age of AI. Explore the concept, the vision, and the merch-funded path that could help bring this once-in-a-species event to life.

This is what we do here at Existential Garnish.

Everything you can imagine.

But didn't.

Maybe you've heard, but turns out AI is going to kill us all by the end of the decade.

Some might panic. Others might shrug.

We put it in our (human) brain and let it blossom.

Here's what we've imagined so far.

How about someone holds a Live Aid-style simulcast music festival in 2030 to thumb our nose at the AI doomsayers who (from the vantage of our future-anticipated hindsight) overblew the risks of our extinction? And, more importantly, let's throw this worldwide shindig to celebrate (and unify around) the resilience, tenacity and continued longevity of humanity itself. Fast forward and—despite the histrionic hyperbolics of the "experts"—it's 2030 and we're still here, gosh darn it. We're alive! Toss me a beer and let's do the wave in this 70,000-seat arena while some megastar leads us in a stirring rendition of Kumbaya.

But when in 2030 to throw this world party? We're eyeing June 1, the year's midpoint—deep enough into the calendar to plant our flapping, flesh-colored flag of homosapienism and proclaim: we made it. As a happy byproduct of our search on that date, we discovered that June 1, 2030 will also see a near-total "Ring of Fire" eclipse, in the morning, in Athens, Greece, among other cities in that swath of the world.

Now we're getting somewhere.

Imagine with us ...

After an early morning viewing of the eclipse, on Saturday, June 1, 2026, the throngs of festival-goers will overtake the Olympic Athletic Complex of Athens for a day and night of music, merriment and celebration. Maybe NYC could join in on Sunday morning, once the sun rises on our side of the pond.

An all-out celebration of humanity, pure and simple. And we call it Extinction 2030™: a title built to be wryly defied by our very presence come June 2030.

Details to come. Like making it happen.

Now comes the disclaimer portion of the blog where we clearly and unequivocally state that Extinction 2030 is in no way happening at the time of this writing. No venues have been booked. No acts have been contacted. It's all in our head.

Now get it in yours.

Despite Extinction 2030's temporary nonexistence, there's no reason to keep it that way. Don't you want to be on your loved one's shoulders (or vice versa depending on weight differential) bopping beach balls around the stadium crowd in the Hellenic, June 2030 sun?

Then buy the merch.

Yes, in another long list of firsts, Existential Garnish is creating the longest-lagged merch pre-sale for an event that does not, as of yet, exist.

We'll be creating lots of cool shirts and other surprises for Extinction 2030 for you to buy and wear and spread the word ... and actually contribute to the possible realization of this thing.

Have you grasped the vision? Then let's Merch-Fund Extinction 2030 into existence. Buy the stuff. Wear the stuff. Share the stuff on socials, and keep coming back here for updates. In the (music, event, festival) biz? Let's collaborate to accelerate this once-in-a-species event toward reality.
